Ice Rather Be With Blue

Another "boyfriend mani" for today. This time, he chose two KBShimmer polishes.

My base color is I'd Rather Be With Blue (Blogger Collaboration Winter 2013 Collection, created by Cosmetic Sanctuary), a light blue with silvery white flakes. I'd rather be with blue dries to a satin matte finish. Three thin coats provided opacity, no issues to report.

Then I added one coat of I Only Have Ice For You (Blogger Collaboration Winter 2013 Collection, created by Chalkboard Nails), a clear base with silver holographic hexes in two sizes plus white flakes.

At first I planned a glitter gradient, but after two nails I realised the base color was too light to really show the gradient. So I ended up using I Only Have Ice For You over my complete nails. It didn't dry gritty at all, so one coat of Rica Glossy Glam was enough for a completely smooth finish.

KBShimmer polishes are sold on their website (US only) and at Harlow & Co. The Blogger Collaboration Collection seems to be partly discontinued, I couldn't find these two shades anymore.

KBShimmer Multichromes

Today I have a multichrome mani to show you. I was wearing this one during my skiing vacation in february, and it still looked pretty good after 8 (!) days, some tipwear, but only on the 8th days some minor chipping on my left index finger.

I used the three non-holo KBShimmer multichromes (Winter 2013 Collection) over a black creme (a England Camelot, one coat) and some striping tape. The polish near the cuticles is Pigment Of My Imagination, shifting from an orange-y red over purple and blue to a deep indigo . In the middle section I used Urban Camo, shifting from a grassy green over a light olive, silver-y light pink to lilac. Finally at the tips you see Shade Shifter, shifting from a teal leaning blue over purple to red, somewhat similar to Pigment Of My Imagination, but not quite the same. It seems to me the colors of POMI are a little warmer than the ones of SS. To finish this mani I used one coat of Rica Glossy Glam topcoat.

Crimson, Eleven, Delight, Petrichor

Today I have another Doctor Who polish by Pahlish to show you: Crimson, Eleven, Delight, Petrichor (that's one name, not four)

"Simultaneously inspired by Idris as the host of the TARDIS Matrix and Amy Pond's Petrichor perfume advertisements
Delicate creamy pink base with a mix of neon coral, neon pink, watermelon, and fuchsia glitters in a mix of matte and metallic with an accent of shimmery red flakes"
(Source: Pahlish)

I used three thin coats for opacity and had no issues with application. Crimson, Eleven, Delight, Petrichor dried pretty smoothly, one coat of Rica Glossy Glam topcoat was enough for perfectly glossy finish.

Pahlish polishes are available on Bigcartel (where I bought mine), at Overall Beauty and at Llarowe.

Golden Oldie Thursday - Day 12 - Yellow/Peach

The theme for today's round of Golden Oldie Thursday is Yellow/Peach. As I don't own a single peach polish, yellow it is.I had to choose between the few yellow polishes I own (I think I own three) and chose the oldest (even if I've already shown it here) :-)

Candeo Jellybean has a light yellow crelly base with blue, purple and pink hexes plus pink, yellow and green microglitter. Three coats were enough for opacity, one coat of Rica Glossy Glam topcoat provided a smooth finish. The last time I wore it I criticised drying time, but this time I didn't notice it negatively.

Candeo Colors polishes are available at their own store.

Take a look at what the other participants created for today:

Grey-Headed Bubs

Today I have a simple tape mani to show you.

I started with three thin coats of Essence Grey-Headed Lovebird (Love Letters Trend Edition), a neutral creme looking more grey, beige or lilac, depending on the light.

Once I Grey-Headed Lovebird was completely dry (with the help of one coat of Rica Glossy Glam topcoat) I taped off some sections of my nails with regular scotch tape and added one thick coat of Colors By Llarowe Bubs Don't Make Bubb As, a dark maroon jelly filled with tiny holographic glitters. After removing the tape another coat of Rica Gloss Glam finished the mani.

With flash. Colors are way off, but you can see the holo glitter.

Colors By Llarowe are available at Llarowe and at Harlow & Co.

A Box, Indied - Bad Catholic

The forth and last polish of the march "A Box, Indied" is Crows Toes Bad Catholic. This name really fits me, as I consider myself a "paper catholic": I'm baptized catholic, pay my church taxes to the catholic church, but I never attend service, unless it's for a wedding or funeral...

As base color I used OPI Incognito In Sausalito (San Francisco Collection), a very dark creme polish that looks like a muted navy but is, in fact, a muted teal. Incognito In Sausalito is very opaque, I used only one coat and it applied like butter.

Then I added one coat of Bad Catholic, a clear base with yellow, green and purple hexes in various sizes.

Like all Crows Toes glitter toppers, this one is a real glitter bomb. No dabbing needed, and absolutely no fishing for glitter, on the contrary, applying the glitters sparingly would prove impossible. For a smooth finish I added one coat of Nail Pattern Boldness Glitter Food and one coat of Rica Glossy Glam topcoat.

Then I mattified it using H&M matte topcoat.

The matte topcoat made it look like a print on paper...

Crows Toes polishes are available at Llarowe and Overall Beauty. Bad Catholic is exclusive to the march "A Box, Indied". The box is available at Llarowe as a one-time-only box or as a monthly subscription.
