Smooth Chocolate

Today's boyfriend mani day (he chose the polishes and the stamping pattern) :-)

As base color I used three coats of  NYX Smooth Operator, a slightly sand toned gold foil, and two coats of NYX Milk Chocolate, a rusty brown shimmer, on my ring finger. It's not the first time I wore a polish called Milk Chocolate with this reddish shade of brown. Do nail polish companies really believe that's what milk chocolate looks like? The should visit Switzerland and taste real chocolate, then ;-)

Then I used Pueen plate 44 and Milk Chocolate over Smooth Operator and the other way round to add the stamped pattern. I finished with one coat of KBShimmer Clearly On Top topcoat.

Skylar Just Blue Herself

Blue's my favorite color and friday's my favorite work day (my favorite day of the week is saturday, btw), so that's a perfect combo :-)

As base color I used three coats of Zoya Skylar, a grey toned blue with golden glass fleck shimmer.

On top of Skylar, I dabbed one coar of Happy Hands I Just Blue Myslef, a clear base filled with royal blue hexes, squares and bars plus some blue holographic hexes.

I Just Blue Myself may look a little boring in the bottle, but once it's on the nails, there's a lot more going on than expected. Application was easy and I added one coat of KBShimmer Clearly On Top topcoat for a smooth finish.

Happy Hands polishes are sold on Etsy , at their own shop and at Harlow & Co. My bottle of I Just Blue Myself is an old version and no longer available, but there's a new version of it with even more sorts of blue glitters.

And now I'm going to spend a lot of money with all the awesome black friday offers. What about you?

You Can't Take The Sky From Me

After showing you my first Lucky 13 Lacquer polish on saturday, I already have the next one for you: You Can't Take The Sky From Me.

"♫Take my love, take my land, take me where I cannot stand....I don't care, I'm still free, you can't take the sky from me♫
Dark charcoal jelly base with microfine, small, and medium silver glitters.
Inspired by Serenity herself and the space that she flies in."
That's how Jess describes You Can't Take The Sky From Me. While I wouldn't call Firefly my favorite TV show ever, I really enjoyed watching it (of course I did, I mean - it's Joss Whedon!).

There's also some green and pink shimmer that makes the polish really interesting. I used three coats of You Can't Take The Sky From Me for opacity and had no issues with application. For a smooth finish I added one coat of Nail Pattern Boldness Glitter Food and one coat of KBShimmer Clearly On Top topcoat.

Lucky 13 Lacquer are available at their own shop.

And for all my american readers: Happy Thanksgiving!

Fligh High, Purple Grey

Today I have a new stamping mani to show you.

My base color is Manhattan Fligh High (Playboy Super Nails Collection), a soft pink, that is so light it's almost white, with lots of frosty shimmer. As much as I like the color, as much was I disappointed with the formula. While application was easy, Fligh High is very sheer, and after the three coats I used it was still nowhere near opaque. Plus the drying time is aweful. I usually tap the surface of my left thumb (the one you don't see here) after a couple of minutes to check if it's ready for the next layer. Most polishes are dry to the touch after around five to seven minutes, the ones which take longer are still slightly tacky then. Fligh High was still so wet, the polish just stuck to my finger and I had a hole in the layer I applied. Adding a quick drying topcoat (KBShimmer Clearly On Top) after the third coat helped, but it still took at least five minutes until it was dry to the touch (Clearly On Top usually dries my polish, or at least the surface, in one or to minutes at most).

On top of Fligh High, I used Models Own Purple Grey, a purple toned taupe (yes, taupe, not grey) creme, and the new revised Bundle Monster plate BM-023 to add the stamping. Another coat of KBshimmer Clearly On Top finished this mani.

Tricks Of Smoke And Ashes

Today's mani is another "boyfriend mani", where I let him choose the polishes.

My base color is China Glaze Smoke And Ashes (Capitol Colours Collection), a blackened polish with lots of emerald and blue glass fleck shimmer. Smoke And Ashes is very pigmented, I only used one coat and it was completely opaque. No need for a second coat with this one.

On top of Smoke And Ashes I added one coat of Happy Hands Tricks Are Things A Whore Does For Money... Or Candy, a clear base filled with small silver hexes, medium silver holographic hexes, gold squares and gold stars.

The glitters spread very easily, no dabbing needed. The gold stars weren't really "jumping ot of the bottle", but I got five of them on my nails. I added one coat of KBShimmer Clearly On Top topcoat, and the only glitters I could still feel were the stars.

Happy Hands polishes are sold on Etsy , at their own shop and at Harlow & Co.
Tricks... seems to be discontinued.

Doctor Who 50th Anniversary

Today, one of my favorite TV shows turns 50! On november 23rd 1963, the first episode of Doctor Who aired, and tonight, the Doctor finally returns after a long break of six months for a special episode to celebrate the aniversary. And as a fan, I want to celebrate it, too :-)

Wibbly Wobbly Timey Wimey (curious about the name? Watch this), which I'm wearing on my index, middle and pinkie finger, is my premiere with a brand I noticed quite some time ago: Lucky 13 Lacquer. Kyoti, the creator of Lucky 13, names all her collections and polishes after Sci Fi or Fantasy movies, books or TV shows.

Wibbly Wobbly Timey Wimey has a royal blue jelly base, with just a hint of teal, and lots of tiny dark blue glitters, small turquoise squares, small and medium turquoise hexes and silver holographic stars and half moons. I used three coats for opacity and all the glitters came out of the bottle willingly, after I placed it upside down for about half an hour.

On my ring finger and thumb, as accent nails, I used three coats of LynBDesings Time And Relative Dimensions In Space (you'll find more infos about the TARDIS here), a dark blue jelly with tiny silver squares and black and blue hexes.

Then I added a TARDIS stamping using My Online Shop stamping plate MJXII (available at Ninja Polish)  and Essence stamping polish in silver. I topped the complete mani with one coat of KBShimmer Clearly On Top topcoat.

Lucky 13 Lacquer are available at their own shop.

LynBDesigns polishes can be bought on Etsy.
